Cafe Radar
I originally started working on cafe radar because I wanted a better way to explore the cafes in my area. I’m a fiend for going to new cafes, but I’ve run into some walls using google maps and yelp. Mainly that they search by overall rating and popularity first, before looking for specifics. A cafe search will give you the highest rated cafes, but it’s pretty hard to find the best white chocolate mocha, or the best study space
I built Cafe radar to fix that problem. A scraping and data processing pipeline grabs cafe reviews and breaks them down into tag:score key value pairs that you can granularly search by. This means I can search by Latte, or espresso, or even parking, and find the best cafes for those traits. I can even combine queries to combine many of my favorite qualities.
